Privacy Policy

What we know about you, why we need it and what you can ask us to do with it.

On this page

The short version

  • We collect what we need to take your payment, deliver your order and answer your questions.
  • We never sell your personal data.
  • We never see or store your full card number. Payments are handled by certified payment providers.
  • You can unsubscribe from our emails in 1 click.
  • You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or its deletion at any time: contact@melopure.com.

1. Who we are

Melopure is an online store operated by Black Tide Ltd, which is responsible for your personal data (the "data controller"). Our company number and registered office are in our Terms and Conditions.

This policy covers melopure.com, the product pages, articles and offer pages that use our checkout, and the emails we send you. For any question about your data, write to contact@melopure.com.

2. The data we collect

  • Order details: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, what you ordered and what you paid.
  • Payment details: your card details are entered on our payment providers' secure systems. We receive the result of the payment, the card type and its last 4 digits, never the full card number.
  • Unfinished checkouts: if you enter your email address at checkout but don't complete the order, we keep it for a short time so that we can send you a reminder.
  • Messages: the emails, contact forms and photos you send to customer service, and our answers.
  • Order checks: the order number and email address you enter on our Check your order page.
  • Reviews: the rating, text and first name you give us when you review a product.
  • Browsing data: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, what you click on and the ad or link that brought you to us. This is collected with cookies and similar technologies (section 7).

We don't ask for sensitive information such as health details. Please don't include any in your messages or reviews unless it's needed to solve a problem with your order.

3. Why we use it

  • To fulfil your order: take your payment, prepare and deliver your parcel, send your confirmation, shipping and delivery emails, and handle returns and refunds. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To help you: answer your questions and let you check your order online. This is necessary for our contract with you and is in our legitimate interest.
  • To prevent fraud and handle payment disputes: check suspicious orders and, when a payment is disputed, show the bank what was ordered and delivered. This is in our legitimate interest.
  • To meet our legal obligations: keep accounting and tax records and answer lawful requests from authorities.
  • To send you offers: emails about our products and reminders about an unfinished checkout, with your consent or, where the law allows it, because you are a customer. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time.
  • To improve our pages and measure our advertising: understand how our pages are used and which ads lead to orders. This is in our legitimate interest or based on your consent, depending on the law of your country.

We don't make decisions that have a legal effect on you by automated means alone.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with the companies that help us run the store, and only what they need:

  • payment providers and fraud-prevention services, to process your payment;
  • our checkout and order-management platforms;
  • our warehouses, logistics partners and carriers, to prepare and deliver your parcel;
  • email and customer-service tools, to send you emails and answer your messages;
  • analytics and advertising partners, to understand how our pages are used and measure our ads (section 7);
  • banks and card networks, when a payment is disputed;
  • our accountants, lawyers and insurers, and public authorities when the law requires it.

If the store or part of it is sold or reorganised, your data may be transferred to the new owner, who will have to respect this policy.

5. International transfers

We work with makers, warehouses and service providers around the world, and our company is located outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Your data is therefore processed in countries other than the one where you live. When the law requires it, we protect these transfers with appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and the UK addendum to them. You can ask us for details.

6. How long we keep it

  • Orders, invoices and payment records: 7 years, as required by accounting and tax rules.
  • Customer service messages: 3 years after your last message.
  • Unfinished checkouts: 30 days.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe. We then keep only your email address on a "do not contact" list.
  • Browsing and analytics data: up to 13 months.

After these periods, your data is deleted or made anonymous.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files saved by your browser. We and our partners use them, along with similar technologies such as pixels, for 3 purposes:

  • To make the site and the checkout work: keep your session secure and remember your order while you complete it.
  • To understand how our pages are used: we use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use and interact with our pages through behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replays, so that we can improve them. Microsoft explains how it collects and uses this data in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • To measure our advertising: the advertising platforms we work with use cookies and pixels to tell us which ads lead to a visit or an order, and to show our ads to people likely to be interested.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse third-party cookies. Our pages still work if you block them, although some features, such as the checkout, may not work properly.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your data, unless we have to keep it, for example for accounting rules or an open dispute;
  • stop sending you marketing emails;
  • stop or limit a use of your data that you object to, or give you your data in a format you can take elsewhere.

Write to contact@melopure.com from the email address you ordered with. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we answer within 30 days. Using your rights is free and never affects your orders or the service you receive.

United Kingdom and European Union

These rights come from the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK or to the data protection authority of your country.

United States

Depending on your state, including California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell personal information. Some laws treat advertising cookies as "sharing": you can opt out by blocking third-party cookies in your browser or by writing to us. We never treat you differently for using your rights.

Australia and Canada

You can ask to access and correct your personal information. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. How we protect your data

Our pages and checkouts use encrypted connections. Payments are processed by providers certified under the card industry's security standard, PCI DSS. Inside our team, only the people who need your data to handle your order or answer you can access it. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach that puts your data at risk, we tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

10. Children

Our store is for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our tools or the law change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we tell our customers by email.

12. Contact us

For any question about your personal data, write to contact@melopure.com or use our contact page. A member of the team answers within 1 working day, Monday to Friday.
